Menus, Links and Navigation FAQ

The Two Parts, Menus and Modules

Each menu has a module that controls where and how it appears on a page. There are four menus that are installed in a default CMS installation:

  • Mainmenu -Contains the main navigation to the content that is installed as default
  • Othermenu -Contains four off site links to sites related to CMS
  • Topmenu -A duplication of some links that are in the main menu
  • Usermenu -A special menu contain some functions for users.
The first thing to understand is that each menu has at least one module associated with it. This module controls where and how the menu appears. The menu in the menu manager controls the links in a menu and where they go to. It also controls the appearance of the page that the link goes to!
